This significant event brought together over 90 key stakeholders, including representatives from the Ministry of Education, Ministry of Women and Social Affairs, Ministry of Health, Ministry of Labor and Skills, universities, regional bureaus, international organizations, donor agencies, and embassy officials.
The workshop commenced with a warm welcoming speech by H.E. Fekadu Tsega, Director General of the Policy Studies Institute. This was followed by opening remarks from Dr. Debebe Barud, who represented H.E. Dr. Ergogie Tesfaye, Minister of the Ministry of Women and Social Affairs. The gathering served as a platform to discuss and disseminate the preliminary findings of the 2023-24 Young Lives Round 7 Survey in Ethiopia, which are captured in three newly launched factsheets: Education and Learning, Health, Nutrition, and Well-Being, and Work and Family Lives.
Professor Tassew Woldehanna, Principal Investigator of Young Lives Ethiopia, presented the key findings from these factsheets, engaging participants in a dynamic Q&A session. He was joined by Dr. Kefyalew Endale, Young Lives Ethiopia Associate Researcher, and Dr. Mesele Araya, Young Lives Ethiopia Assistant Researcher, who provided further insights and analysis.

The workshop fostered an active and engaging discussion, with participants raising critical points and providing valuable feedback. These contributions will serve as key inputs in enriching the research findings and informing the upcoming policy briefs.
In his closing remarks, Dr. Alula Pankhurst, Young Lives Ethiopia Country Director, emphasized the crucial role of stakeholder insights in strengthening future Young Lives Ethiopia studies. He also highlighted the ongoing 6th wave of the Young Lives qualitative longitudinal survey, underlining the continued commitment to studying and understanding the well-being of young people in Ethiopia.
